From the Enough Food for Everyone IF campaign:
Tonight, 1 in 8 people will go to bed hungry. It’s a disgrace.
We have a chance to help stop this scandal, but we’ve only got until Wednesday 20 March to do it. That’s when the Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, will deliver this year’s Budget.
On 13 March – one week ahead of the Budget – we need you to make your voice heard by tweeting to the Chancellor asking him to act on aid and tax dodging.
In 1970, the UK Government promised to support the most vulnerable people in the world by delivering 0.7% of our national income as life-saving aid. The time to deliver this 43-year-old promise is now. But we can’t do it alone. We need your help to show the Government how very important it is.
We also need the Government to make UK companies operating in poor countries spill the beans on any tax dodging. Countries could collect more taxes due to them and generate the funds needed to end hunger.
Together we can make sure the UK Budget counts for millions of people going hungry.
