#whomademyclothes – Rajlakshmi

Rajlakshmi Cotton Mills was set up in 1934 in Delhi, India and is a real pioneer in organic garment manufacturing in India. Seeking to combine high quality tailoring with a fair deal for farmers and workers, the organisation mostly uses GOTS- and Fairtrade-certified cotton as well as other sustainable fibres such as Tencel.

Rajlakshmi works together with Chetna Organic to ensure Fair Trade is practised throughout the supply chain right down to the cotton farmers. Chetna Organic works with marginalised farmers towards improving their livelihoods and making farming a sustainable occupation.

With the Chetna project, Rajlakshmi have sponsored school facilities to support education and helped set up vocational training centres for women in rural farming villages. This support enables them to gain financial safety and independence.
