Tracy Mulligan, People Tree‘s Creative Director, is feeling confident about the new styling direction behind the company’s SS16 Collection … and with good reason. The collection has been created with the same impeccable ethics that underpin everything People Tree creates, but the latest collection – dubbed Urban Craft – has a more contemporary feel that Tracy’s new styling direction has accentuated.
Tracy elaborated: “I’m loving creating the new styling direction for People Tree SS16. Contemporary looks, versatile pieces, easy day-to-evening looks, effortless weekend style, holiday, city or beach – we have created pieces that you will be able to use as wardrobe staples for seasons to come.”
The People Tree team agree. For Dominika Mayerova, PR Executive at People Tree, the season is about experimentation. Her top tip to get the SS16 Urban Craft look? Experiment.
She told The Thread: “Experiment with different fabrics, textures, colours and prints – spring and summer are two very fun seasons to do so.”
Jenny Hulme, Head of Buying and Design, agreed, urging people to embrace the change: “Top tip for SS16 is to ditch the skinny jeans and embrace all of the new shapes of trousers and culottes. There are so many great new silhouettes around – wide legs, flares and paper bag waist details; there is something for everyone to update their look.”
And what of the finishing touches that make your look your own? Celine Bopp, the talented make up artist who worked on the latest shoot with the team, shared her tips or recreating the pared-down, contemporary look we saw on model Nastya.
Here are Celine’s top tips:
1. First and foremost get yourself a good skincare regime
2. Use SPF EVERY DAY
3. Tinted moisturiser to give you some coverage but keep your skin looking fresh
4. Curl your lashes. Never underestimate the power of eyelash curlers, but invest in a decent pair. I like the ones from Shu Uemura.
5. Lashings of mascara top and bottom
6. A little cream coloured liner inside the waterline
7. Lip stain in your favourite shade all over your lips, then dab your lip stain onto your cheeks for a fresh dewy look.
8. Powder your T-Zone only
Celine’s work has taught her a fair few things about looking and feeling good. She was kind enough to give us some extra wisdom on appreciating and accentuating your own beauty: “I believe every human has something special about them. It’s important to know and value yourself internally because it will beam out of you externally.
“Our skin is our largest organ, and we should nourish and nurture it from the inside and out! I am massively into the non-toxic approach to skincare and feeding your body with the correct diet too to help your skin be radiant. I personally try avoiding parabens, phthalates, sulphates and anything petroleum-based wherever possible and we do not need to be using palm oil in products, it really does not come from a sustainable source and plant oils are fantastic.
“So look out for these things! Remember our skin is feeding off everything we put onto it – be mindful.”
