We’re dreaming of summer here at People Tree HQ… unfortunately for us, it’s still pretty chilly here in the UK. This leaves us in a state of limbo when it comes to our wardrobes, we’re reaching for our chunky knitwear on a daily basis yet questioning whether it’s too soon to start dusting off our summer dresses, floaty tunic tops and linen trousers. With this in mind, the design team at People Tree intend to design pieces that are timeless which can be worn throughout the year and season after season.

The Pre-Collection drop of our Spring Summer collection features pieces that will take you through from winter to spring and then onto peak summertime. The pieces in this early drop are suited to this time of year’s unpredictable weather- a top pick are our hand knitted jumpers which are made from cotton making them cosy yet breathable, trusty layering pieces for your capsule wardrobe.

We like to refer to transitional dressing as ‘Wear now, wear later’- layer up now with organic cotton essentials as base layers (Cecily Turtleneck Top in Brown), add a Tencel shirt dress over the top (Aislinn Paisley Shirt Dress) and finish with our cotton knitwear (Sierra Cardigan), wooly tights and ankle boots- in the summer months lose the base layer and knitwear and let the dress do the talking, styled simply with strappy sandals.

Sustainability and ethics are at the core of our brand and as a result we hope to create garments that are hard-working and wardrobe staples. Ultimately, as conscious consumers we must consider the full lifecycle of the clothing in our wardrobe and conjure up ways we can be creative and get the most use out what we own. A lightweight dress may not seem out-rightly suitable for winter but the simple addition of a roll neck underneath and knitwear over the top can maximise the amount of times you wear it. Set yourself Eco Age’s ’30 wears’ challenge as a benchmark.
