On the thread today, Safia Minney, People Tree Japan and UK Founder and CEO, talks about the highlights from her recent visit to Urban Research Door’s store in Japan.
Safia Minney: I love visiting stores selling People Tree in Japan. They are so beautifully designed and curated. One of the larger fashion chains that we are selling to is Urban Research Doors. I love the interior and whilst I wish everything in it were Fairly traded and eco – I love the design and quality of all their products. This Spring 2014, they started selling People Tree fashion – after successfully launching People Tree foods in their Osaka shop.
Mr. Kita showed us around before the store opened, together with the Los Angeles film crew “Untold Creative”.
Fashion in London and Japan is a different aesthetic’ even though in both countries People Tree customers appreciate organic and natural materials and hand-made clothing.
Miki Alcalde, Film Maker and Photographer, and I took the opportunity to ask Mr. Kita to style us and give us a new Japanese summer look. I really liked these loose linen trousers, although, in London I would probably wear them with high heels and a skinny vest. In organic cotton of course!
As for Miki he liked the Suteteko trousers for men, used traditionally as homewear for men in the heat of summer – but now a new trend in bright colours and cute prints!
Thank you Urban Research Doors for a really great and interesting visit!
