People Tree at The SOURCE Awards 2013

People Tree attended the Ethical Fashion Forum’s SOURCE Awards at The House of Lords, yesterday. Thanks to Tamsin Lejeune, Managing Director and Founder of the Ethical Fashion Forum, for a great event promoting ethics in the fashion industry.

People Tree founder and CEO Safia Minney judged two categories – ‘Fabric & Component Production and Supply’ and ‘One to Watch’ Awards.

“As a judge I was looking for boundary pushing change and initiatives that can be commercial. I’m delighted to see the quality of ethical brands and the determination of their leaders. It’s easy to say – it’s all about ‘design’, but good design is also about technical support and long term partnership to deliver genuine social and environmental change. Here lies the future seeds of the fashion industry – it simply is unsustainable to continue as we are!”

Carry Somers spoke about Fashion Revolution Day.

24 April 2014 is Fashion Revolution Day when citizens, industry leaders, workers, campaigners, academics, press, consumers – everyone we can think of – will come together to commemorate the first anniversary of the collapse, remember the victims of Rana Plaza and change our fashion future. Fashion Revolution Day is an opportunity to celebrate fashion as a positive influence, raise awareness of the fashion industry’s most pressing issues and show that change is possible. It will rally the high street, the high end, the innovators, the media, the public, the activists, the makers, the wearers – and everyone in between.
