In April, People Tree launched the Rag Rage Campaign to challenge high street fashion brands sourcing from Bangladesh to stop cutting corners in the garment industry.

The campaign was in response to the collapse of Rana Plaza in Bangladesh, a tragic accident which killed more than 1,000 garment workers making products for fast fashion brands.

We were shocked and outraged by the accident and asked you to join the Rag Rage Campaign by signing a petition calling fashion brands to sign the Fire and Building Safety Agreement in Bangladesh and provide compensation to the victims of the building collapse. The campaign was successful: more than 80,000 people signed the petition many of the world’s leading high street brands have now signed the Fire and Building Safety Agreement.

We’ve achieved so much, but there’s a lot more still to be done.

There are global fashion brands brands that have yet to take responsibility for the safety of the working conditions in their garment factories – we want to ensure that disasters like this become a thing of the past. On Saturday 29 June, thousands of protesters across the world joined War on Want for a Day of Action calling for more fashion brands to sign the Safety Agreement and to provide compensation to the victims’ families.

Wear Fair: How you can help People Tree support families in Bangladesh

You can show your support for the rights of garment workers by buying our Limited Edition Wear Fair tops for men and women, which People Tree has designed and produced for the Rag Rage campaign.

Help us make a statement and build awareness by wearing your Wear Fair T-shirt to show brands that they should be doing more for the welfare of their garment workers. The quirky print was designed by illustrator and long-time friend of People Tree Chris Houghton. The tee is available for both men and women.

For every Wear Fair top that you purchase, People Tree will donate £10 to £15 to the National Garment Workers Federation (NGFW) in Bangladesh. The NGFT will provide financial support to the families of victims of the Dhaka building collapse. We believe that the fashion brands that were producing garments in the Rana Plaza factories should be providing compensation to the victims’ families – but until this happens, People Tree wants to do want we can to support these families.

With your help, we want to raise at least £1,000 by selling these brilliant Limited Edition T-Shirts. Let’s make a statement and a difference together: Fair Trade or nothing! Let’s wear fair!

  1. ‘Let’s wear fair’ is a brilliant idea and encapsulates my credo for clothes-buying. I lost my job last year but I’m going to scrape together the money somehow to get the T-shirt for my husband – he’ll love it. Thank you!
