On Saturday the 28th of March 2015, from 20:30 – 21:30, the annual event named Earth Hour will take place.
Earth Hour was famously started as a lights-off event in Sydney, Australia in 2007 and has since become an event run by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), which has grown to engage more than 162 countries and territories worldwide. Their mission? To encourage people to protect the planet and ‘use their power to change climate change.’
During Earth Hour, people around the globe are asked to turn off their lights for a minimum of 60 minutes and hundreds of millions of people take part each year. In 2014, 60 of the 162 countries that participated went ‘Beyond the Hour’ and kept their lights off for longer.
Switching your lights off is just the beginning! Earth Hour claims to have a community of followers who are prepared to make alterations which lessen their impact on the environment, as they share a love for our planet and passion for preserving its natural resources.
Here at People Tree we share these values, which is why we strive to achieve the highest possible level of sustainability when producing our collections of Fair Trade and sustainable fashion. We utilise pioneering best practice, which promotes the use of organic cotton, natural materials and azo-free dyes.
