People Tree are excited to have talked to Aja Wallis, the Deputy Fashion Editor at Reveal, about her favourite People Tree items of this season! From classic pieces and prints to comfy knits, read about her favourites here.
Everyone needs a classic white shirt in their wardrobe. This one has flattering bracelet-length sleeves and a boxy shape, making it smart but not too officey. It looks great worn slightly open with jeans, or buttoned up and layered under a shift dress or knit for a preppier look.
The sixties influence is huge this A/W – just add a pair of flat, over-the-knee boots for instant Bardot perfection! For those of us with less than movie–star legs, just add opaque tights. For a boho look, I’d layer a furry longline gilet over the top.
This shift dress is super-flattering – not too short, not too tight, and with upper arm-friendly elbow-length sleeves. Queen-of-chic Victoria Beckham is a fan of this understated shape. It’s the perfect throw-on dress for work: just add a pair of this season’s must-have brogues or loafers. Mustard is a key colour for AW14/15, and this is a great way to tick off a trend without going head-to-toe Colman’s!
I love a good print, and I’m a cat lover, so this top is a no-brainer. It’s also the simplest way to dress up skinny jeans and Converse – my daily uniform! Again, I love the slightly boxy shape and sleeve length for a smart but relaxed look.
Holly Vintage cardigan, £105
You can’t beat a hand-knitted cardigan for cosiness. The chunky rib and wooden buttons give this knit a real vintage feel – without the mothball smell! Perfect with a printed tea dress, or with your favourite boyfriend jeans.
Cat Hat, £15
After much trial and error, I’ve finally accepted it’s impossible to look chic in a woolly hat, so you may as well go down the novelty route. Cute, cosy, and with whiskers – what more do you want from a winter hat?
Check Jumper, £60
I’m slightly addicted to prints (see above!) but you really can’t go wrong with this gorgeous, hand-knitted checked number. And you’ll be in good company – Vivienne Westwood and Nicole Farhi both showed oversized checks on the AW catwalks.

Laura Check Tunic, £63
With its nod to tartan and subdued colours, I fell in love with this hand-woven, brushed cotton tunic. Super soft to the touch, this was a hit with the model on our shoot. If you’re not blessed with gazelle-like legs, it’ll look great with leggings and ankle boots.
